I also really appreciate the relatively slow pace of the show. It let's us just kind of hang out with the various characters.

I'd be curious hearing what people think of the show who had no prior experience with the movie or comics. Is it fun spending half an episode with peripheral characters if you're not having your prior expectations messed with?

Yeah. I loved this whole series, and one of the big reasons is that it allows for more hanging with the characters in different/new situations which reveals more about them, but I'm a fan of the comics. It'd be interesting to hear how other people receive it.
