Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: 2 Scott 2 Pilgrim

Unfinished business, mind-blowing revelations - and a mix of lovers, friends, and exes. What could go wrong?
This episode was wild. Bringing Scott back and going full throttle on the plot could have undermined what was making this series special, but it was awesome.
Favourite things:
- Yah, Getting Will Forte was a coup
- I love that "future" Toronto (basically 2023 based on the time jump) is in some kind of post-apocalyptic state and no one comments on it or explains.
- The Japenese-language song that Scott sings with the Katayanage twins hit me in a really weird part of my brain. Turns out they were covering the intro Konya wa Hurricane (mildly NSFW) to the 80s anime Bubblegum Crisis. I age-inappropriately watched this when I was like 9 and was not expecting to have those memories reactivated. Devoting a non-trivial chunk of the episode to a cut that deep was certainly... unexpected.

I looooved the way that the Katayanagi twins are dressed exactly like something out of Jet Set Radio Future
I also kind of adore the metatextual fuckery involved with the Sonic "one person playing two versions of the same guy" change in the first episode kind of sorta-but-maybe-not-really foreshadowing having another person playing another version of the same guy here
though also I remain incapable of hearing his voice as anything other than Abe Clonehigh
