I'm totally blanking on the details about Nobu from S1 -- he's the one who got set on fire though, right?

Ugh those poor people in cages, gave me flashbacks to S1 of The 100.

Requirements for a series featuring Daredevil and the Punisher:

☑ Crazy ninja action

☑ Frank killing errbody

In the first scene after the credits - are those ninja cleaners? That would probably be lucrative. Possibly more lucrative than being an actual ninja.

Apropos of nothing "The Roxxoff Corporation" would be a really good name for a funk band.

Well. Between Matt and Frank escaping the Irish, and the end of last episode (Elektra finishing the ninja in Matt's apartment), and Frank's prison fight in this one, the show's really taking advantage of its "Mature Adult" rating. I've seen plenty of out-and-out horror flicks that aren't as graphically violent. We're definitely in "Punisher MAX" territory.

I can't be the only one thinking Fisk is . . . . . drastically overconfident in his ability to control or manipulate Frank, right?

Wow, it sure was convenient for all the prison mooks to line up in a nice column in the hall to get their asses killed.

Oh Fisk, you still doing you.

I'd be impressed at Karen somehow kinda lining up another job(?) if it wasn't at a newspaper.

RIP Nelson and Murdock...sigh.

One of the things people said about last season was that it was not only Daredevil's origin story, but it was also Kingpin's origin. But I think this episode -- in the first five minutes -- shows how Wilson Fisk became the feared crime boss he started out as in Season 1. Sure, we saw him as a kid last season, but here we see him start from 0 and work his way back up. I loved that in a way I was not expecting. The way he manipulates Frank into a mutually beneficial arrangement is just great TV. I think I could watch a whole season of Fisk in prison maneuvering his way back to power.

Also, Investigative Reporter Karen Page 100x better than Legal Secretary Karen Page. Matt doesn't deserve you!! Stay at the Bulletin!

The ninja stuff, I could take or leave. Though, I guess the reveal that Nobu isn't dead retcons the whole "what about the guy he lit on fire last season" response to Daredevil's no-kill policy.

Bullseye on that. I think this episode was the final puzzle piece in the story of Kingpin.

I just want Matt and Foggy to hug it out, man.

And dang, what was with Matt getting his butt kicked by Nobu? The fight felt somewhat lopsided. It's also felt as if Murdock has been off his game for a while.

I like Reporter Karen more than Legal Assistant Karen, too.

Oh man, this episode was great and set up so much potential future stories. Fisk and Frank are great in a room together and setting them off each other, yet somewhat working together is just great drama.

Hurray on Karen getting a new job and her memory of Ben. Hurray on her having her own separate story. I think I could watch a series of her just investigating shit all over New York, while running into Jessica Jone, Luke Cage and various other super types.

They're still doing the interesting thing with Kingpin's size in these past two episodes - he's clearly a towering giant when he's first brought into jail, but note how ordinary he looks in that weight-yard scene with Frank. He has to look up to meet Frank in the eye, and he looks rotund rather than massive. An odd, desperate schemer with and odd, desperate plan... and Frank doesn't see him as much of a threat.

Compare that to their confrontation and fight scene, where Fisk LOOMS over Frank, bulls him around with brute mass, shrugs off Frank's best shots and takes him down easily. This is a man who controls people's perceptions of him completely, even the audience... until it's too late.

D'Onofrio is such a physical presence, I love how they use that in this .

Amazing how this show just lifts whenever D'Onofrio's on screen. He shows great range here from the pre-credit scenes with the confused catch in his voice like he's holding back tears for his fallen empire, all the way through to the triumphant battering he gives Frank.
