Another great episode.

I was iffy on the John & Elizabeth sub-plot at first, seemed rather "#AllLivesMatter'-ish. But I think the twist of Josey not being mistaken about John's identity, and Elizabeth's "You got the whipping you deserved" line redeemed it.

But, oh my god, I did not see Cato's double-cross coming, that was amazing! (Not sure that the alcohol on the cotton wouldn't have evaporated already before nightfall, but it was so exhilarating seeing the field light up like that I can't complain. Harder to believe that whatever plant Rosalee hid the dead birds in for the dogs would poison them so instantaneously, but, this show doesn't do slow, so, no matter.

I was exercising while I watched this, and when they started the fire I had to pause the show and get off the damn elliptical. Heart rate TOO HIGH. I was so shocked and confused and thrilled all at once; it was too much.

But Pearly Mae! Ernestine! Henry! Are they permanently stuck on the plantation now? Probably so, right? I mean, the crackdown is going to be so hard! And narratively, we need some characters we care about there, to show us what the effects of the escape were, and what the escapees will be returning to if caught... And because the cost of getting away is leaving some people behind?

But without Pearly Mae, they have no one who can read or write? But Cato's with them, so he must have the papers, right? With the seals?
