Ahhh they're going to end the episode NOW??? Rebecca was really really hard to like in this episode; she basically manipulated, belittled or ignored everyone else around her...she's definitely spiraling and I'm wondering how this intervention thing is going to go.

Loved the zoo song so much. What are you doing Nathaniel? You were going to kill a man last episode and now you're feeding adorable panda babies.

Once Rebecca started gaslighting Paula it was hard for me to find anything funny in the main plotline. It was too upsetting. This isn't a complaint, just an observation.

Heather's plotline, otoh, was hilarious. I loved her being forced to sing an inspiring number. It was staged perfectly, including her lack of enthusiasm. Dr. Akopian, I think you have a new customer!

Hard to like: I agree. It was painful* to see how her desperation made her act so thoughtlessly. Not that she was ever Queen Empathy, of course.

Ironically, she's getting more horrible as Nathaniel's getting less so.

*Painful because I like the character and relate to more than a little bit of her craziness.

There better be a payoff soon. I'm starting to feel like Rachel Bloom is doing to me what Rebecca Bunch has done to her "friends."

I thought this was an amazing, excellent, very real-feeling episode. This season's theme song is, well, thematic, and it seems that this season is going to get deep into a multidimensional exploration of how bad it can get. I wonder how many seasons is planned for this show.

amtho, I've read they've mapped out the story through four seasons. Not clear if they'd even want to do five. So we're at an interesting point in the arc, I think. I'm glad they're not letting her off the hook for the shit she's pulled.

The situation is getting beyond Rebecca's control, which may be why she got no song this time out(?). She can't dream up any way in which she could portray herself as the one in charge.

(Even in "You Stupid Bitch," she's still the one giving the concert.)

considering how often rachel bloom compares rebecca’s arc to that of walter white, i’m pretty sure it’s only going to get worse from here.

Heather's song was so good. You could see her dying a little inside at it's sheer insipid glory.

THE MOMENT IS ME.

Is there a different public radio, one with pictures?

According to ABK, the idea of [Heather's] exasperated interjections came from these improvs.

Father Brah and Paula solve minor crimes and address moral dilemmas?? Call me, Hollywood.

I love how perfectly this show captures how consuming anxiety is. Her blow-off of Heather isn't self-centered. It's self-obsessed. She tries to meet Heather where she is, but can't keep her attention long enough. The usual self-centered response would be congratulations and then minimize her reticence as jitters. But Rebecca is immediately on board and cobbles together a terrible plan to remain a student.

Also, I rewatched the last two episodes of season two. And I was originally way too focused on #bunchofchans to notice how legit Nathaniel's arc this season feels. I remembered some of the dad transferrence. But the Man Nap interrupted by Plimpton Sr to Private Jet for Westchester Sperm Machine is so believable.
