The Adventure Zone: Commitment - Episode 4
November 30, 2017 10:42 AM - Subscribe

Our heroes come face-to-face with the King of America in the climactic finale of our Commitment arc. Remy does those good flips. Nadiya causes some collateral damage. Kardala swears her very genuine, heartfelt loyalty.

That wrapped up pretty neatly.
I can definitely see revisiting that world.

There was clearly a crazy amount of prep put in by Clint in terms of ethos, backstory and so on. The pacing seemed good, and the King being goofy, but genuine was tropey, but well played.

All I want is more Kardala.

I know Kardala serves no man, but I do hope to hear more of her adventures.

I hope they don't continue this arc later, just because I am so sick of Nadiya's character. Being a scientist doesn't mean you talk about logic all the time and only listen to music and watch movies about science and scientists, christ. Has Travis ever met anyone who works in the sciences?

Yeah, I'd think that a series covering an Illuminati-like organization and secret kings of America would be more my jam, but this didn't really click with me. Part of it, I think, is the Fate system itself - the negotiation aspect doesn't make for interesting listening compared with a "let's roll the dice and improv up the result."

I'm interested to see what the changes are and like that they're picking up the pace a bit. The idea of it being another, what, half a year before Season 2 is no good.

I agree that the Fate system isn't optimal for this type of audience engagement. Happy that they're aware of it.

Funny to me how I've seen Nadiya's self-reverencing personality type more in business folks than in science folks. I wonder if this was intentional. It's HARD to script for someone smarter than yourself, so it's possible Travis drifted into this.
