The show is certainly not shying away from being political, which is good considering the source material, but I'd wondered how far a TV show on Fox would go. I assumed the Purifiers saying "they will not replace us" was a reference to the neo-Nazi marchers in Charlottesville last year, and they said as much at Comic-Con:

Teale specifically mentioned the new villainous Purifiers. “The Purifiers are a mutant hate group. I don’t know what parallels we could compare that to in mordern-day times,” he said sarcastically. “If only we had an idea. They’re tiki torch-carrying mutant haters.”

EXACTLY the way I read it too. Sad we could grok that independently without the article.

Man between this and Supergirl leaning heavily into the anti-alien groups these shows are getting pretty real. But it's important to get these messages across.

Rebecca's power is really neat and super useful. And it's kinda nice that they give Andy another complement now that his sister's not around and he's surrounded by adults. But I can see how much trouble those two can get themselves into.

Loved the episode, though I'm a little confused by the fact that I'm rooting for both the underground and the inner circle.
I'm a little worried that they're gonna get cancelled before we get any kind of closure, though.
