I usually avoid the Academy Awards but I'm thankful they brought this little gem to my attention.
I was a bit of a puddle watching it, alternatively either from the saddening realities of these women but also unadulterated joy. Sneha, the woman who wants to join the police, was especially endearing.

Locally, I'm hoping this project becomes even more successful and increases the liberties and possibilities of Indian women (the entrepreneurs as well as customers). Globally, I'm equally hopeful this well-crafted documentary will help dismantling the stigma surrounding menstruation, if just a bit.

(Because even though these Indian women are living 'different' realities, parallels to the supposed open-minded West can be drawn everywhere...)

Oooh, I'm so glad you included the link to the Pad Project in your post. I watched the film but hadn't visited the website, and there's (of course) a way to donate online. Sweet; I love that people are doing this.
