A youth inspirational film, about how a group of high school students try to revive Chinese orchestra ensemble. They face many challenges along the way to compete nationally, including a rivalry with the more popular Western orchestra club.

Part "Bring It On", part "Glee", part "Strictly Ballroom", part "Pretty in Pink" it's a fun, colorful, musical teenage romp.

So anyway, this movie is probably Chinese government propaganda, but it is currently one of my top 10 favorite silly movies. The dialogue is sharp and funny, the music is exciting, the over-the-top rivalry between students of traditional Chinese music and western classical music sets up some good conflict. It's available to watch on Netflix and as of this posting in full on youtube.
