Gugure! Kokkuri-san: Kokkuri-san's Steamy Secret Hot Spring Tour!
November 23, 2014 2:26 PM - Season 1, Episode 8 - Subscribe

Shigaraki wins tickets for a trip to the hot springs, and so Kokkuri and the gang takes a hot springs vacation. Kokkuri uses the trip to find a way to revert the curse received in the previous episode.

This is one show-long episode rather than the usual two-episode show.

Usually these posts go up on Monday evening, but I'll probably be working through tomorrow night, so I decided to post early.

Kohina comes from a long line of trolls. Or jerks. Take your pick.

Hmm---I'm glad Kokkuri-san is back to his normal self =)

Oh and could it be Tanuki-san isn't a much of a louse as I assumed he had been all along? Yes, it was sketchy to trick everyone to go to Hot Springs but then again he did pay for all the tickets, meals, and everything else. I still have mixed feelings about his character.

Also, the references to other anime/manga series were amusing and not too overdone. I'd been on the fence since the typical Hot Spring/Beach episodes always felt like fillers to me but instead we learned a bit about their pasts and hobbies which is nice.

I'm a bit sad they didn't take the opportunity to have female Kokkuri singing the opening theme.

chrono_rabbit: What other series were referenced? I caught the Ranma 1/2 gag, but that's about the limit of my knowledge.

And Shigaraki is playing both sides of the net. His motivation for dragging Kokkuri to the hot springs was purely selfish, even if the pretext was magnanimous. He won't begrudge helping other people, as long as doing so helps him get what he wants. Money isn't really something he's concerned about, as long as there's somebody around he can con more out of. Like Kokkuri.

In that sense, his helping Kohina when she was being haunted by minor spirits was a lot more illuminating.

I think the only other one is FMA when Kokkuri-san mentioned he wanted to go look for the Philosopher's stone instead.
