Dublin Murders: Episode 1   Show Only

I haven't read the books, so, someone else please post the 'books-included' thread?

Well, I'm hooked - curious to see what's going to happen over the course of the season to lead back to the circumstances of the opening scene of Maddox telling Rob they could never speak again. Almost curious enough to want to read the books to get caught up, but, I think I'll wait and try to watch the season as unspoiled as I can manage.

I've read about the books, but not the books themselves because I'm still waiting for them from the library. (It looks to be a VERY long wait.)

I really enjoyed this first episode. Lots of creepiness already.

I'm not sure if any US sites are going to be recapping the episodes -- I guess there must have been recaps on UK-based sites since the BBC premiere was on October 14th(?), but I was afraid to google too hard for them since I didn't want to stumble into anything covering the finale or book details. If anyone has a recommendation of where to find episode recaps, please add it to the thread.

This looks fun! I'm an episode and half in (the entire season is already available on ~the internet~). I like the characters.

Also it's so weird how the English of many characters are so close to something American...ish. Out of context I could pick several sentences that would easily pass as "American". Of course there are plenty of words where the vowels are not quite right... but shift those vowels around just a bit and you really have something remarkably close to what you have on the other side of the Atlantic.

Also. It has Varys!

Yes, I was very excited about Varys! Playing against type even!

Vulture has a recap of episode 1 I'm gonna assume they'll do the rest.

I'm done binging on the season and I shall sit on my hands and not say anything more until the rest of y'all catch up.

Re: accents, isn't it weird the way so many American accents sound almost Irish... Like just shift the vowels around a bit and they could almost pass! Don't even get me started on the similarities between Scots accents and New Zealand ones. Aussies, though, we're just weird. Especially those of us who have come from other countries and bring our strange furrin sounds with us.

It has been a while since I read the books, since they came out a while back. I think I'll postpone a reread - however tempting - till the series is done so I can enjoy it without making comparisons. Though I'm not sure enjoy is precisely the right word, since my memory is they were also really dark and sad, as most of hers are, and the first ep seems pretty faithful that way.
