Route:
  • Los Angeles, California, USA
  • Mexico City, Mexico
  • Costa Rica (2 episodes)
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Florence, Italy
  • Grindelwald, Switzerland
  • Paris, France

So I thought this was pretty fun; not as good as my fave Amazing Race series, but interesting nonetheless.
* Lindsey Vonn did a pretty good job, all things considered. Having a host-with-her-dog was an inspired choice, especially since Lucy was a tiny little thing that would be woeful at the actual competition.
* It was interesting how much they showed the safety aspect; it sounds like they did a ton of effort on that side (and the charity side). I read one article talking about the about some of the logistics, which seem over-the-top including a chartered plane, and an extra day in each country. Sounds like they were on the road for about two months; a season of TAR is filmed over more like one month (and covers a lot more ground).
* Profiles of competitors: Kentucky and Derby, Lucy and Dutchess.

Your post reminded me that I wanted to watch this, so I watched two episodes last night and it was really fun. These people really love their dogs, and the dogs are pretty happy and excited during the tasks that I saw. Or, the dogs are super happy totally blowing off the task to run around and do what they want. At least in these first two episodes, we get interviews with the dog safety team and clips of the training that the teams went through before starting.

The chartered plane really is over the top, but if they need doggo toileting areas on longer flights as they said, then I'm super glad it's not a commercial flight!

There's one incredibly vocal dog, a coon hound, who bays all the time and is adorable. And, all the teams cheered a doggo who had a victory poop right after finishing a task. It's that kind of fun.

I enjoyed this but I was always taken aback by the sheer logistics of the show’s production. Would be curious to know what the total budget was. Seems like it must have been a very expensive show to pull off.
