Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!: Keep Your Hands off Eizouken!
September 8, 2021 1:27 AM - Season 1 (Full Season) - Subscribe

Three schoolgirls team up to create a film club, though the world does not want it. Nevertheless they cannot be stopped: They are too good at what they do. The goblin-like Asakusa wants to make worlds. The rich and famous Mizusaki wants to make art. The ghoulish Hanamori wants to make money. An anime about anime, animation, creative passion, compromise, project management, and the sinister uplifting purity of indomitable optimism. It might be edutainment, it might be a love-letter, it might be satire, it might be about beautiful foolishness.

I don't watch a lot of anime, and don't really like anime tropes, but this one feels special.

Hanamori is hilarious every moment she's on screen.

I loved this so much. It’s my favorite anime I’ve watched in the past year, and I wish there were more like it. The humor, the animation, the characters, the plot. All great!

Easy Breezy!

A lot of it is full of neat details where it wouldn't normally be necessary to the plot. Like why is the air conditioner right in the door?

The part where I was most prone to tune out was the "imaginary" parts in the first couple episodes. Because I guess it was so disconnected from everything else. Once the imaginary parts were more about their creative process for the things they're making, I found them a lot more engaging?

I have Easy Breezy lodged in my soul. The rare opening credits I'm always happy to watch.

My SO and I were both deeply shocked that we liked all three characters a lot. That's rare in any kind of entertainment. Kanamori is an especially brilliant character, to be one of the core as the like necessary guiding producer, but also pretty ghoulish and exploitative, but the one who actually wants to be sure the Thing Gets Made.

We tend to only watch dubbed anime (I know! I know!) because it's hard to read subtitles while knitting. But this show is worth putting the needles down for. Every time I think I love one of the characters best, one of the others deepens and becomes my favorite. My friends and I always had ideas for making stuff when we were in high school, but we never had a Hanamori to keep us on task!
