The first season came out almost two and a half years ago. Netflix quickly renewed it, but then the world sort of shut down for a little while there. The second season moves even farther beyond the original source material to adapt Dr. Seuss's The Butter Battle Book (which already got a Ralph Bakshi version way back during the Cold War).
The new cast somehow manages to increase the starpower wattage, with EGOT Rita Moreno, Héctor Elizondo, chef and philanthropist José Andrés, and genre titans Gwendoline Christie and James Marsden.
