Season 1 was at its worst working with youngish characters (AHS itself reached a nadir working with young 20-somethings in last year's Death Valley, for my money the worst-ever entry from the main series), so when I saw a still of this episode's cast, my heart sank; I pushed play right away, resolved to get it over with. But! This is easily the best episode of the series so far. All killer, no filler, "Bloody Mary" moves at a breakneck clip, and if you think (as I feared) the show might hold back on the stakes (or the gore) because the characters are kids, OH no. It definitely doesn't. More like this, please!
