Sons of Liberty: A Dangerous Game

"As young men, Sam Adams (Ben Barnes), John Adams (Henry Thomas), Paul Revere (Michael Raymond-Jame), John Hancock (Rafe Spall), and Dr. Joseph Warren (Ryan Eggold) join forces as the Sons of Liberty seeking to start a revolution in this three-part miniseries." -- Metacritic
This sexed-up docudrama, with its title obviously chosen for its likeness to "Sons of Anarchy," was sponsored by Samuel Adams the brewery, and it shows. Sam Adams is a stubbly, tankard-swigging young chunk of man instead of a prominent citizen in his forties, as Samuel Adams actually was.
The show was filmed in Romania. Although there are some historic streets in Boston's North End that do look rather like those sets even today, the cheapness and newness is hidden by an overactive fog machine. As someone who once walked by the Boston Massacre site several times every day, I'm surprised they didn't get some filming done in Boston. Boston really fusses over film crews.
This may be mostly be a spot-the-inaccuracies watch for those of us who like history, but I had forgotten that this indeed did happen:
The serpent is lurking in the grass.
The fatal dart is thrown.
Innocence is nowhere safe.

Looks like just a 3-parter. This reminds me that I never saw John Adams, which was supposed to be very good.

So I watched the first half, and not sure about this show. I'll probably catch the rest, but so far it seemed like it was headed down the same path as AMC's (somewhat lackluster) Turn. And I think that part of the problem in both (and yeah, just going from the first half of SoL,) is that the actual reality of the redcoats was a lot grittier than these costume dramas present. Their coats are a little too red -- and clean. Though I did like the filthy Bostonians in SoL. I'll have to watch the rest.
Is this going to be a series, or is it just a 3-parter?
