Special Event: Ring Of Honor: Final Battle 2022

It has been one strange year for Ring Of Honor, after a very real possibility that the company would dissolve in 2021. Rescued from the scrap heap by Tony Khan, integrating ROH talent with the All Elite Wrestling roster, today ROH will put on the first Final Battle under the new ownership with every title on the line.

The announced card for tonight:

ZERO HOUR Pre-Show:
Máscara Dorada vs. Jeff Cobb
Willow Nightingale vs. Trish Adora
The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennet) vs. Top Flight (Darius Martin and Dante Martin)
"Cool Hand" Angelo Parker and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard vs. Shinobi Shadow Squad (Cheeseburger and Eli Isom)

MAIN CARD
Blake Christian and A. R. Fox vs. La Facción Ingobernable (Dralístico and Rush)
Swerve In Our Glory (Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and JD Griffey)
ROH Women's World Championship: Mercedes Martinez (c) vs. Athena
ROH World Television Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Juice Robinson
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: Dalton Castle and The Boys (c) vs. The Embassy (Brian Cage and Gates of Agony) (with Prince Nana)
ROH Pure Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta -- Pure Wrestling Rules match
ROH World Tag Team Championship: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (c) vs. The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) -- Double Dog Collar match
ROH World Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli -- If Castagnoli loses, he will have to join the Jericho Appreciation Society

Willow Nightingale vs. Trish Adora

This will be a main-event match in a decade. Maybe not for the biggest promotion in the world, but definitely for the smartest.

It sure looks like the ref blew the call in the finish of the ARFox/Christian vs. Rush/Dralistico so the heels had to call an audible and get their heat back with some post-match castigo... which makes this a genuine Ring Of Honor match for sure!

Holy cow what a big hoss show the Swerve/Keith Lee vs. Shane match was. Swerve goes backstage just for Keith to win it all himself, so I imagine that Swerve arrives back in gorilla position and thinks "Wait, what? Damn, should I go back out? Nah."

And we get our second "ROH" finish, because Boy #2 definitely had his shoulders up in the 6-man match (because Brian Cage's pin was lazy). That's the only down side of that fun match of turns and reversals. I dearly hope that Castle losing the title means that he's going to spend a little more time on AEW television.

HOLY SHIT THE REF BLADED. What a lunatic spotfest this dog-collar match.

Someone I'm watching the show with joked that the tag match was like Splatoon, where whoever covered the ring with more of their own blood will be declared the winner, and I can't disagree.

Joe being the only person to retain is the most logical possible result.
