This movie turned out to be such a powerful piece of pro-Allies, anti-German propaganda that even Joseph Goebbels admitted that "yo, it's too good, I can't beat it."

A couple of years ago when "Dunkirk" came out, all I could think of in the Mark Rylance scenes was Walter Pidgeon and his sturdy little boat. I love this movie.
