Jason wakes to a life that makes no sense - he doesn't have a family and he's created something extraordinary.

I sort of wish they'd done more to make Velocity / Amanda more of an antagonist before going straight to the assault, but it ramped things up, I guess? I mean, until that point, who knows, maybe they would be like "goddamnit Jason, you had to run away to get the girl you lost 15 years ago and you left us with _this_ schlub instead of just never returning?"

Nothing breathtaking, I'm still in for ep 3 though.

I’m annoyed that they fridged (a) Jennifer Connelly, partly because I thought we were past that trope, but mostly because in doing so they’ve telegraphed exactly how the rest of the plot will play out. Counterpart was complex and interesting, whereas I guess this is just going to be another case of guy trying to get girl back from evil guy :/

The fridge event was a marker that they'd got me to care about family-Jason, but it was also an indicator of the tropes that were going to play out: great-person-of-history Jason vs just-above-bare-minimum-family-man Jason. I don't recall when I lost track of which Jason was which, which made me less invested in this antagonist/protagonist pairing.
