Olivia doesn't need Fitz, she's on her own. Except for her current employees and former employees who enter a bidding war over who gets to save her. Other than that, totally on her own. Even though all of her attempts to escape failed miserably.

This show is much more enjoyable if you treat it like a "21st century morality play" rather than a traditional television drama. For example, Olivia + Fitz make no sense as a relationship between 2 actual human beings, but "Don't go to war to save my life! We're over! (for now)" is totally compelling to me.

The minute Steven appeared, I shouted (and tweeted), "Now THAT'S Penny's boat!" Lost fans cracked up. Everyone else thought I was addled. Sigh.

It's interesting that Mellie felt that they had to do anything possible to save Olivia, because otherwise the loss of her marriage (and her child) was meaningless, while Olivia couldn't see past her guilt over those soldier's deaths to forgive Fitz. Personally, if I were Fitz, I'd chalk it up to PTSD and just gently give her time. Then again, I don't have the blood of all those soldiers on my hands because I was trying to save my one twue wuv.

For what it's worth, I thought the best part of this (and it was pretty underplayed, I felt) was that for all everyone else did, Abby (without killing anyone, without threatening to kill anyone, by just picking up the phone and calling a man on whom she used to have a serious crush), saved Olivia. Not her mama, not her daddy, and not her boyfriend. Her BFF. Girl power.

That said, Jeff Perry's acting is so far beyond what anyone else on this show delivers, I'm not sure we need the camera trained on anyone else.

I cackled with joy and shouted "see you in another lifetime, brother." I was so full of glee.

Well, to be fair, when she said "I'm on my own" she was talking to Fitz, who didn't save her. As The Wrong Kind of Cheese points out, Abby saved her.

Anyway, I'm happy 1. to be done with this kidnapping plot, and 2. about anything that gives us at least a temporary break from Olivia/Fitz. More Olivia dancing with Jake Ballard, pls.
