September 24, 2024 1:57 PM - Season 1, Episode 1 - Subscribe
"The Golden Bachelorette lead (is) Joan Vassos, a a 61-year-old school administrator and mother of four from Maryland, the show announced in May. Fans of the The Golden Bachelor will remember that Joan and Gerry seemed like a match early on in the season, but things took an unexpected twist when she had to leave due to an urgent family matter." From Women's Health magazine
Meet the Cast at ABC, 24 men aged 57-69, plus one surprise entrant*
Joan's packing video on Instagram "Excited, nervous, and overpacked... but, mostly ready to get this golden journey started."
Deadline article
Things start off on the right foot with Pascal, a 69-year-old salon owner from Paris who now resides in Chicago, with a “very sexy” accent. She also appears to hit it off with 60-year-old Chock, who brings his own chicken noodle soup for her to sample. Jack, a 68-year-old caterer from Chicago, stuns Joan by serenading her upon his arrival.
Someone brings her a shot of prune juice to make sure the night runs smoothly, and another tosses her a baseball because he “heard she’s a great catch.” And then there’s David, a 68-year-old rancher from Austin, who forgoes the limo entrance to ride in on a horse instead.
By the end of this episode, six men are sent home.
* I thought it was 24 men plus one extra, but I only see 23 in the cast list at ABC.

I watched again to comment. She is totally gorgeous (and SUCH a good sport).
I was also very charmed by the Frenchman, dang.
Inappropriate to bring food imo. Chance for spilling. Maybe she has allergies. Maybe she doesn’t want to wreck her breath.
Jack who sang and cooked seems like a really nice guy but not her type. This is a terrible thing to say but I think he would have benefited from a wardrobe helper. (I could benefit from one myself)
Station wagon guy Keith got the first rose. That one paid off. He seems like a keeper.
I did not recognize the woman who got out of the limo and at first I wondered if a girl was going to try her hand at winning Joan? That did not seem right. Her dad is probably a frontrunner.
Some of the props were kinda dumb- scooters (in an evening gown and heels), telephones. Really did not like the pickleball free-for-all. Did not look fun, looked overly staged, way too many balls in a small space. Joan was still wearing an evening gown and heels, and got smacked by at least one. Wtf
The poem was not good.
She is going to have such a hard time sending people home, especially later. She is going to break a lot of hearts.
