This is my favourite episode of this season. So many awesome lines and callbacks, especially, "Zona peligrosa!"

PS nice Bullitt tag.

"That amount, direct deposited every month for the rest of your life."
Hmm, that sounds ominious, especially coming from the CIA.

And virtual girlfriend is back! What? Or is she just part of Krieger's van and clone Krieger just now discovered her by happenstance?

Easily the best episode of the season so far. They've been doing a great job showing us the flip side of Archer's character -- he's great at spy stuff, but he's TERRIBLE at being a human being.

And more than ever I want Pam to get her own spin-off show.

Definitely one of the best.

My only real question: where the heck do they think Berkeley is located in relation to the Golden Gate Bridge? Maybe the episode happens to take place during one of the Bay Bridge closure weekends?

I will take Slater's return as an opportunity to link to this interview with Executive Producer Matt Thompson, wherein he reveals Christian Slater as an Archer supergeek:
Christian’s hilarious, and a true fan of the show. You talk about continuity — I’m always surprised when somebody says, “Didn’t that happen in like Season 2?” and Christian will know. We’ll forget. When we first started talking to him about his character, it was like, “We want to call the character Slater,” and he was like, “If you don’t call the character Slater, I’m gonna be mad at you.” “Can he look like you?” “God, please!” He was just so cool with it.

Great, funny episode. And, yes, yay for Virtual Girlfriend's return! But, are not going to see Woodhouse at all this season? He's custom made to be A.J's babysitter/nanny.

And the inestimable Keith David as Lana's dad. "Assbucket" indeed.

Was Krieger's van a specific Rush reference this time?

It was indeed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_%28Rush_album%29

OMG.
I can't believe it took me six seasons to get the gag...Lana Kane. It honestly never clicked before.

Good lord, I'm dense sometimes.

Agreed best episode of the season. Maybe the writers are getting their grove back.

I like that Archer has a good grasp of backup strategies.

I was hoping her dad or sibling would be named Novo.

It's still funny enough to make my husband and I burst out laughing simultaneously more than once an episode. Amazing!

My only real question: where the heck do they think Berkeley is located in relation to the Golden Gate Bridge?

My immediate assumption was that they actually live in Marin (I mean, come on, they're hot-tubbers and everything!) and just teach at Berkeley. It's a totally plausible commute.

I considered that possibility. Two things count against it though:
  • The house (kind of shown in the teaser) looks like it belongs in Berkeley to my eye
  • This exchange: Archer: Because who gets in a hot tub naked with an almost complete stranger? Lana: Because everybody! Because Berkeley! That's-- how does an entire city get a pass on acceptable behavior?

If you are literally insane.

: "My only real question: where the heck do they think Berkeley is located in relation to the Golden Gate Bridge? Maybe the episode happens to take place during one of the Bay Bridge closure weekends?"

I figured it was a direct nod to Bullitt which is also known for playing pretty fast and loose with geography.

: "I like that Archer has a good grasp of backup strategies."

Archer's decidedly punctuated information retention is one of the great charms of the show. I never can tell when he is going to be a genius or clueless often with bizarrely bright line differentiation.

How much money do you think Lana’s parents got? Because now I’m imagining that when Malory retires, she doesn’t hand the agency over to her son, but announces that Lana has bought it.
