February 19, 2025 3:05 PM - Season 2, Episode 8 - Subscribe
Teal'C's mentor Bra'Tac brings bad news: the Goa'Uld Apophis survived the destruction of his spaceship and has now kidnapped Teal'C's son Rya'C. The team accompanies Teal'C to Chulak to rescue Rya'C.
Teal'c and SG-1 return to Chulak to rescue Rya'c, who was taken by Apophis. Eventually, they find him, but Teal'c notices that Rya'c has been brainwashed by Apophis, who sends him to Earth to destroy the Tau'ri.

Regression is a good way to look at it. Teal’c was -cartoonishly- childish here even in the context of his later temper issues re: Shaunac.

The setup in the situation for all of this relied on a lot of "character HAS to be this way." Bra'Tac can't know that one of his other star pupils shacked up with his star pupil's wife. How do you know where someone lives without picking up who she's living with?
Likewise, Fro'tak is Teal'c's good buddies and doesn't offer his wife and son shelter in his house without askign Drey'auc to marry him? Or even a sham marriage? Arguably, Fro'tak was just a bad actor to begin with and his inevitable betrayal was in line with his character.
Jack unilaterally taking care of Fro'tak was probably one of the more covert action actions we've ever seen Jack do.
I think this is the first time I watched this episode as a parent, and geez, I definitely felt for Teal'c when he zat his own kid. :|

The kid was solid though for a child actor, and the plan itself was pretty damn evil to get him to kill everyone.
Rare zat gun disintegration alert!
