Top Chef: Best Served Cold

In this week’s Quickfire Challenge, the chefs must make their own version of a Jamaican patty. Canadian hockey star Natalie Spooner assists Kristen in presenting the Elimination Challenge, where the chefs are put on thin ice and must create dishes best served cold. The chefs need to keep their cool to impress the judges and guest judges Food & Wine’s Editor in Chief Hunter Lewis and renowned Canadian chef Lynn Crawford.
Last Chance Kitchen was a double shocker. First the guy bowed out, and then Anya failed the challenge. I felt really bad for her.

Agreed, that dude just up and quitting was absolutely wild! And not sure what Anya did there, undercooking fish is a pretty basic mistake, and she clearly has more skill than that.
Meanwhile, the pack is beginning to separate. Katianna jumps to the top with the double win, very impressive. The main critique we usually hear is 'cook your own food,' seem like Katianna is doing just that right from the start.

I really liked Anya and was sad to see her go for good. I'm always hopeful folks will show strong in LCK and was disappointed for her!
I was very impressed by Katianna and happy to see Tristen doing well again! He's my sleeper for the season--I think he's going to be discounted as he does more comfort food than traditional "fine-dining", but he's cooking all the food I want to eat!

LCK was crazy, Anya just seemed to be done. Also I'm always surprised we don't see more folks quitting in these things. I guess shows how well they can select for contestants who can handle the pressure.
