Helix: Ectogenesis

An old friend returns as Alan slogs around the island with Kyle and the CDC Strikeforce. Meanwhile Peter and Anne grow closer as Sergio and Julia arrive on the island, looking for Michael. Sarah and Amy come to agreement about making the latter an immortal and the plan starts RIGHT NOW. Also, we get a peek at what mycotic married life is like.

This episode's title, Ectogenesis refers to life in an an artificial environment, much like Sarah's baby living in a jar on a cupboard shelf. But it could refer to the various characters trying to live in the fake environment of the island and of the larger world where immortals are trying to kill off most of humanity. As crazy as the plots can get on the show, there's a certain sanity to them in the sense of characters reacting to being one of Michael's cultists or a pawn in Ilaria's goal of genocide.

Interesting side note: I re-watched Season 1 over the past week and Doreen mentioned that she has a son. Is it Kyle? Did her and Alan hook up at some point? That would make total sense for this show.

But mostly I was just happy to see Doreen back, she was one of the best characters.
