Marsha still thinks that Tim and Daisy are a couple, and when she sees Tim kissing and flirting with Sophie, gets suspicious. Later that night at Daisy's birthday dinner, Marsha tell Daisy that Tim is cheating on her - Daisy's reply has dire consequences.

You can spot the references in the thread below, or cheat by visiting A Slice of Fried Gold - which also has good commentary on this episode.

Original air date: 6 April 2001.

Tim: "I know. I look like a twat in a jumpsuit."
Daisy Steiner: "Don't say that, Tim. That's a word that hates women."
Tim: "What? 'Twat'?"
Daisy Steiner: "No, 'jumpsuit.'"
Tim: "Oh."

Ah, the cake fight. This is the most "plotty" of the episodes, with the hanging thread of Tim and Daisy's "relationship" resolved, with the added frisson that maybe Daisy wants it to be a real relationship. It also follows the small arc of Daisy's life being a bit of a shambles currently, while Tim is actually doing quite well professionally and romantically.

Oh, it's also quite funny!

I never think of "Back For Good" without thinking of this episode. Best twist on a Lloyd Dobler move EVER.

I love them five ever for referencing Bugsy Malone with the cake fight and piano interlude. But I always get a little sad at the way these last few episodes treat Daisy, knowing that the resolution isn't all that redemptive for her. Like yeah dudes, that sparkly cake is cool, but didn't you see how cute she looks?

This one had the opening with the Oasis song as well, right? This was an episode with excellent usage of music, I guess was my takeaway, as well as being funny.

Another allusion to Tim's interest in cross dressing in this episode as well, with him in Sophie's thong and cosmetics.

That's the next one isn't it. I'm not having a good run of it this week!

I loved this episode: the choral-style horror music, Marsha looking out of the window, Daisy's daydream of working but it turns out she's not doing any typing, the misunderstanding that never gets cleared up till too late, the restaurant scene. The restaurant was great. Daisy looked great, it was harsh (in a funny-sad way) that the reaction wasn't for her. The end with the door ominously closing behind Daisy and Tim was well-done. Can't forget the Buffy shoutout. There was a poster a couple of episodes back, I think.

My one quibble is that when they leave the restaurant, Daisy has bits of food in her hair but everyone is otherwise sparkling clean. Too clean.
