Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: Blood and Circuses
June 30, 2015 7:41 PM - Season 1, Episode 11 - Subscribe

Innocent fun turns to horror when one of the sideshow acts in a carnival is murdered. Phryne poses as a magician's assistant to investigate.

*In this episode, we learn that Janey's disappearance happened when the girls had snuck into the circus.
*Phryne's investigation into the murder of Miss Christopher uncovers a prison break engineered by Murdoch Foyle, in which he dosed himself with a tranquilizer that would simulate death. It has apparently failed, due to his body having been claimed by his mother and sent for cremation.

When I watched, I wondered where Miss Fisher had picked up that working-class accent she used with her disguise; this episode made it clear that her posh accent is her disguise.

this episode made it clear that her posh accent is her disguise.

Did it? I may not have been paying close enough attention, I don't remember hearing much dialogue from young Phryne & Janey in the flashbacks.

Loved Hugh's "Do I get a vote?"

oh yeah, I'm basing that on the fact that young Phryne and Janey did not have posh frocks. Isn't the reason Phryne dresses so outlandishly because she was poor growing up?

It is in the books. Phryne came from a poor background and came into her money, and possibly posh accent, later.
