Mystery Science Theater 3000: BEING FROM ANOTHER PLANET
November 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Season 4, Episode 5 - Subscribe

AKA Time Walker. "Nothing Can Stop Him. Not Even Time." A mummy, in reality a space alien, terrorizes a college campus. An extremely forgettable made-for-TV movie, and one of those films that's difficult to recall. About the most memorable thing I can say is that this is the episode in which the bots are terrified of the basement. Star Ben Murphy shows up again much later in the Sci-Fi Channel era in 814 RIDING WITH DEATH. YouTube (1h35m) Premiered August 4, 1992.

As usual, this week's showing will take place Thursday at 9 PM Eastern time, at http://sync-video.com/tv/rodneylives. You can read the Club FAQ here.

News for this week:
  • MST3K writer Mike Dodge, who played the A-Bomb in 602 INVASION USA, narrator of Edward The Less and who played the unseen Bob Honcho on the Film Crew DVDs, has passed away. He wrote during Season Six. Satellite News has more information, including testimonials from Mike Nelson and Frank Conniff.
  • Joel Hodgson is doing another Reddit AMA on November 10th! Here's the Reddit thread. Here's the Satellite News report on it. It's your chance to get your question in, if you have a Reddit account. (I don't know how bad the MST3K subreddit is, standard disclaimers about the site's overall culture apply.) News on Turkey Day 2015 and the future of MST3K are said to be forthcoming.
  • Another interesting piece of news from Satellite News, RiffTrax has started selling MST3K episode on their site for $10 each. It's long been known that the performers of MST generally did not earn royalties for their work, but some of the money from sales through this channel will go to Mike, Kevin and Bill. Episodes bought this way will have a short introduction from Mike included. Two particular favorites from the Sci-Fi Channel era are the first available through this channel, The Pumaman and The Final Sacrifice!

Can't I have just one more sacrifice before we go?
