Well, that was appropriately batshit. Nygma attempting to befriend Penguin was, indeed, pretty funny.

The stuff with Eduardo Flamingo at the end was depressing though - reminded me entirely too much of The Walking Dead's 'kindness is for suckers' theme.

Man, the body count in this show...

Nice to see Missy getting work after that mess on Skaro.

Crazy (and sad) that it's Nygma who gets Penguin give up the last shred of his humanity.

Poor Penguin. Dude just needed a hug.

Nygma's rant to Penguin about being truly free when you have nobody to love is epic and you can almost see Nygma grow three inches as he's delivering it, while Penguin holds a blade at his throat Nygma cares not a whit about. This is truly the moment Nygma becomes the Riddler.

It is also amusing how casually Penguin tosses off Nygma's riddle -- "A memory, so what?" He is neither challenged nor impressed by it as everyone else has been by his riddles.

I thought it was interesting to see Penguin alone with someone he had no reason to fear or manipulate. He used neither the twitchy/unhinged schtick nor the opposite but tonally similar fake-deferential/pathetic schtick. He just sounded like he was talking to some asshole.

It was also great to see Alfred develop a bit more resolve on the guardian/mentor front.

ok, so in the scene where Penguin has the knife at Ed's throat, there were a few good shots of a rather well-lit pineapple on a scale in the background. Is there something going on with that?

It has to do with how Nygma met Oswald's mother.
