This was a pretty good episode, I thought (although Rip Hunter continues to be The Worst, both in general, and at time-traveling specifically).

However, by far the best thing of all was the look on Jefferson's face when Ray introduced himself as Doctor Hannibal Lecter. Oh my god was that a great moment.

Hm. Overall, I liked it based on the overwhelmingly low bar I have set for this series now.

Thoughts:
* z0mg I am so tired of Kendra only having romance related stuff to do that it is making me do things like type 'z0mg.' They need to give her a real plot. Anything.

* No!Ted Kord is still great. The Hannibal Lecter line killed with me too, along with him angsting so much about the misuse of his technology, and having it stolen out from under him.

* Mick and Snart working stuff out was good.

* White Canary for Team Captain, stat.

* Per Degaton was a creepy little bastard, and this was a rare occasion where Vandal Savage worked for me. (I have the least trouble with Savage when he's supposed to be a slimy creep instead of the imposing immortal tyrant from, like, the DCAU.)

* I guess it's nice they acknowledged Firestorm should be able to wipe out a future army by himself, but they could really make his crappy CG fireballs a little more impressive. On a similar note, I'm still disappointed by Snart's depowering - this is a guy who used to give The Flash a run for his money, and now his gun is less powerful than a regular firearm.

* Rip Hunter is indeed the Absolute Worst. In fact, I suppose I have to give the show some respect there: every week, I think they can't make me hate him any more than I already do, and every week they pull it off. So, uh, props to them, I guess?

I know it's way too fast for Rory to be back on the crew, but I'm just so happy that Rory is back on the crew.

So.. In ten episode all they've managed to do is speed up and solidify the super holocaust...
Maybe it's time for them to rethink their strategy.

So say we all.

Unlike most, it seems I really didn't like this episode at all.

Hey, she also had anger issues that one time!\

The Hannibal Lecter line killed with me too, along with him

I liked Jax's eye-roll.

This episode felt like off-cuts to me. There were what could have been great episodes with Baby Hitler (link may or may not include comics spoilers for where I suspect the show is going), Kendra's love issues, Ray's suit angst and the Legion of Iron Man Knock-offs, but it was all just ... kinda here, not doing much at all.

Even the fight at the end seemed kinda lacking.

And, even though the Mick/Rory fight was great, his turn back to the team felt too easy.

But, hey, next week we get NotDengar, Not4Lom and NotZuckuss.

Maybe it's time for them to rethink their strategy.

I'm sure we all said that on week one.

Hey, she also had anger issues that one time!

Hahaha. "I was just a barista and now I am filled with BIRD RAGE!"
*sigh*
Poor Kendra. It's too bad - Shayera Hol is one of my favorite characters in the DCAU, all armed and dangerous and willing to flip off Cthulhu, and all Kendra gets is "Oh my gosh I can't control my feelings!"

I liked Jax's eye-roll.

Jax is legitimately funny. It's one of the few things the show actually gets right - most of the cast is hilarious. It's just... everything else.

So.. In ten episode all they've managed to do is speed up and solidify the super holocaust...

I honestly wish that was the point of the show. Like... instead of being about how the heroes must overcome impossible odds, if it were about how Rip actually is *supposed* to be The Worst, and maybe an exploration of why time travel shouldn't be weaponized. I guess what I really want in the series finale is for them to realize the Time Masters are actually right, turn Rip in and return to the moments they were taken from. (Possibly with an ending montage showing Vandal Savage finally losing now that he can no longer take advantage of all the help they've been giving him.)

(I guess what I'm saying is that I miss Continuum, and might have liked it even better with a bunch of people who can fly and/or shoot energy beams.)

Damn. I forgot that she was a barista.
She needs to mention that more.

She needs to mention that more.

I'm surprised they didn't make that her job when she was stuck in 1958. (Although I don't remember them ever saying what she did exactly, so maybe it's just implied.)

I think they did mention her '58 career - I think it was in health administration.

I have to say, I've pretty much given up on the show. I haven't stopped watching (more or less) but it's rapidly become aural wallpaper as I do something else.

Oops, my bad. I still wish they'd spent a little more time on that two year gap - I was like, "Finally, they're doing something interesting. Oh, it's over already. Okay."

OK, my wife and I were watching this and groaning about how bad they are at everything. Like, everything. And this great hip-hop collective called Doomtree has a song called Team the Best Team. So I've taken to calling this show Team the Worst Team.

In their defense, they're pretty good at helping Vandal Savage. He should probably send them a fruit basket or something.

Imagine the card sent the day after his final domination. "Couldn't have done it without you! Thanks for all the support over the years."

Is this team worse than the team from Dark Matter? I guess it ultimately depends on how the rest of the season plays out.

It's amazing how bad the overall plot of the show, Vandal Savage, and Rip are. If I didn't like Snart, Sara, Ray and to some degree the professor, I'd probably have quit this show already.

Every time travel show has to do a Hitler episode. I know that. But ugh.

I think I would have given the choice: "hey, kid, do you want to cause the death of millions?" And when he says yes, I have no compunctions about plugging him because that kid was a shitty little bastard from the getgo and the only nice hopeful thing about him was that he dreams about cooking with his mom. There's no ambiguity about that kid not coming out awful already, so I don't really have too much crisis of conscience about "maybe he can be saved."
