Always here for Pearl-centric episodes.
"Who's your favorite Gem?"
"If this is about the favorite Gem thing, I was just kidding. Don't tell Garnet."
"JasPER!!"
Also, reminding the kids to eat, assuring Connie she was her pupil, therefore excellent swordswoman.
Speaking of Connie:
PEAK OIL!
Pine-needle tea
Frog mug
How to Survive the Punishment of Nature (Used)
Soooo...is Jasper going to fuse with those poor corrupted Gems? Because I'm fairly sure that would traumatize them and corrupt her. Which may be where this is going.
Lots of discussion of corruption in this series of episodes. Have a feeling a Lore Bomb is coming.

A couple of interesting things:

- Connie's parents not only approved of sending their daughter out into the wilds to poof huge monsters, but they wanted pictures! They've loosened up a lot, but I wonder if they really know what this entails? Maybe Pearl buttered them up by telling them how excellent a student Connie is?
- Interestingly, this is not the first time we've seen Connie upset about the human influence on the Earth! Way back in Fusion Cuisine she was concerned about sustainable agriculture! I can't help but think this is a conscious decision by the Crewniverse -- is Connie going to go survivalist on us?

Also, notice: Jasper didn't bubble the gems, but left carrying them.
And: were these the first mammalian gem corruptions we've seen? Most corruptions have been abstract, insect, fish or even (in one case) a waterbear. I think the closest we've gotten to mammals has been the huge bird in Giant Woman. The mottled color patterns on them were also weird. And it looked like they were communicating with each other!
AND: seeing Pearl being relaxed and concerned over the kids is great.

I wonder if they're setting out to portray Jasper as a sort of dark mirror to the crystal gems. They were all on the same 'gem hunt' afterall, but whereas the CGs goal is to poof and bubble the corrupted gems for their own protection, Jasper is doing it for more nefarious purposes.
It also made me think back to when Peridot first saw the bubbled gems in the temple and was *horrified*, and assumed that the CGs were planning to "harvest" her. What does it mean to harvest gems? Is that what Jasper is planning?

I've assumed that she meant something like what happened to Lapis-- that it's common on Homeworld for Gems that are damaged or otherwise past their usefulness to be incorporated into pieces of Gem technology. But maybe not?
Also, one of those two monsters had the same color palette as Jasper herself! Its mane was the same color as her hair and its body was the same orange and red.

We know that Gems of the same type take the same shape (with minor variations), whether they're corrupted or not. Like whatever gem Centipeddle is.. and Rubies. We even see similarities in gem's that aren't the same type but are the same class. Quartzes, such as Amethyst, Rose, Jasper are all huge (cept our Amethyst of course) and have huge hair.
My guess is that they're the same type of Gem.. and if I had to bet on it, I'd gather they were once Agates.

Incidentally: Agates are very similar to Jasper, as they're both specific forms of Quartz. I suspect these agates were identical to Jasper (and any other Quartz) pre-corruption. They were totally communicating with each other as well, another indication that corrupted gems aren't simply aggressive and animalistic, after seeing Centipeedle reunited with her crew.
I was thinking about Steven's healing power, and his ability to enter people's minds, and the imagery we see when Steven and Connie fuse, and how corruption is described as a mental rather than physical disorder, and how Steven talked down the Cluster, which got me thinking if there is a way to reverse gem corruption it probably lies in Steven fusing with a corrupted gem, or at least interacting with it on the same mental level he's interacted with Lapis and Lars and Kiki.
