September 8, 2014 10:34 AM - Season 1, Episode 21 - Subscribe

It's Bring your daughter to work day, hilarity ensues. Lindsay and Tobias get actual paying jobs and George Sr.'s ban on organized sports is violated.

Officer Taylor: Did you ever threaten her?
Michael: No, no. God, no, 'course not.
*cut-away to Kitty shouting: Michael Bluth is threatening me!*
Michael: I... I did... I threatened her at a restaurant. But... you know... it's a restaurant... so...

This idea that threatening someone is bad, but that if you do it at a restaurant it's okay just cracks me up.

It's weird that officers Taylor & Carter have daughters here (although we never see them). The daughters are not even mentioned next season when the two officers are having a baby.

Of the "bring your daughter to work day" bits, I think my favorite is the little girl telling Michael & Maeby that "You're free to go", along with the little nod of the father to confirm.

And as a bonus for Survivor fans, the nodding father is played by Penner!

George Michael continues the family tradition-- GOB's mostly-- of driving a not-even-that-funny joke into the ground.

From the way his mom behaves in restaurants, he surely got the impression growing up that this was 100% true.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he was quoting Lucille word for word.

This show is genius in that it can create a crew of distinct characters, but they are still obviously all related. Sitcoms about families tend to have 5 people living in a house together who look and act nothing alike and we as viewers have learned to suspend disbelief. With AD, though, you can tell from a quote who said it, usually, but still see the thread of how it connects to their family traditions.

I thought of a similar thing when watching this episode, when GOB is at the mall and says "Hey, guy". And this isn't the first time he's said it. I can totally imagining Buster at some point wanting to mimic his more assertive older brother, but not getting any further than "Heeey, brother".

And another GOB-Geroge Michael connection, in the Girls with low self-esteem video there's a poster next to GOB saying "Mr. Magician".

To clarify, I'm guessing it's a reference to Mr. Manager.
