Arrested Development: Let 'Em Eat Cake   Rewatch
September 15, 2014 11:00 AM - Season 1, Episode 22 - Subscribe

In the season finale there's a lot of lies and a lot of love (more lies). The family tries to stay away from carbs, as well as the prosecution's lie-detector. Meanwhile Kitty tries to take over the company, Lindsay gets into beads, GOB gets into bees.

So that's a wrap for the first season. It was a shame that interest dwindled, but thanks everyone who posted & commented.

There's always a lot of material in G.O.B. seeing himself as the the smartest and most-deserving of pretty much everything, and this episode makes good use of it. There are a few times this season when GOB wanted to list things or make some kind of statement, but runs out. Like "That's right: Michael. Dull, nothing-going-on-upstairs ... .... Michael." and "My own brother, Michael. My own selfish brother ... ... Michael".
This episode has another great one.

G.O.B.: Zero hour, Michael. The end of the line. I'm the first born. Sick of playing second fiddle. Always third in line for everything. Tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. ... There are six ... things I'm mad about.

Oh, and another great bit this episode also involving G.O.B. is when they're at the hospital and he calls George both Big Bear and Old Bear. Big Bear of course is George's nickname when he and Kitty are getting intimate, something G.O.B. has witnessed.

I had to look it up, it is in Visiting Ours. Thanks to the handy transcripts of the AD wiki:

Lucille: And you’re as powerful as a bear. My husband, the bear.
George, Sr.: Spare me some honey, wife.
[...]
Narrator: And so, G.O.B. was detained against the window of the trailer his parents were becoming intimate in.
G.O.B.: Oh, God, Mommy, what did you do?

bjrn, that counting-up part is probably one of my favorite moments in the entire series. It's been bugging me that I couldn't recall when it happened.
