I liked a lot of things about this episode. I really really really really wish the Korean player storyline hadn't ended up being oh guys look how special Dan Lauria is, but I did like the scene between the GM and Eliot. (Did you notice that as soon as Oscar got on the phone with someone at the Korean consulate trying to find an interpreter he used the words Eliot just taught him? Not eggplant, though.)

Anyway, I thought the backstory with the ex was really strong, mostly because we're going to get into the fallout. Catcherboy wasn't overtly malicious or shitty, but it just shows how easily things can go wrong for women. They didn't just have an ugly breakup. They broke up and he got to go play baseball--she had to deal with shitty teammates and can never let her guard down, and now she's going to have to deal with Chehkov's Selfies. The bullshit train never stops for ambitious women.

I like Blip's wife, whose name I still don't know.

And Ginny's only 23 per the Jimmy Kimmel spot in episode 2, and probably didn't do much dating as a teenager what with how driven & determined she and her father were. If the catcher relationship was while she was in the minors, I feel like it was probably during that period after her father died and before Amelia started as her manager, while she was feeling sort of adrift and not sure that getting to the majors was achievable.

Chekov's Selfies, yes! I thought that immediately as well.

I spent an annoyed 3 minutes trying to identify Trevor until I went to IMDB and realized Shamier Anderson plays Marshall Dolles on Wynonna Earp, where he is a hardened & occasionally brutal member of the white hats. Guess why they call it acting.

The other gun on the shelf will be Lawson & Amelia's relationship, although so far the characters have mostly been pleasantly mature about a lot of stuff.

I'm liking the way the rest of the cast is getting fleshed out. And I persist in hoping that we don't get a romantic relationship between Ginny & Mike.
