Like the office singers (I love that even the randos in the office can sing), I too wonder how long I have to care about the New Guy. Obviously Rebecca is already smitten, like, ugh.

I feel like this season is party devoted to knocking Josh off his (already wobbly) pedestal and New Guy's going to be a big part of that. Last time Rebecca went up against her New York/Ivy League past (the water case) , she kinda won even though she lost. This time though, things feel way more personal and dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if Rebecca is again considering moving back to New York by the end of the season...the Josh thing is basically doomed, her living situation with Valencia is probably going to implode if it hasn't already and her obsession with her new boss is likely going to lead to her being (temporarily) unemployed, at least until Darryl regains ownership of the firm or whatever.

Valencia was oddly absent for these two episodes, have to wonder how Rebecca getting back with Josh will effect their tenuous friendship. Yeah, the ending was not too subtle there with where the plotline with the new boss will be headed.

The George song was the best.

I like that even when trying to convince him not not to fire everyone Rebecca could only focus on how helpful they'd been to her personally. There's a much better reason not to fire Paula!

Loved the coworker song, because I had literally just been thinking "ugh, I hate this new character and don't want him to be on the show." I mean, I still don't like him and still don't want him to be on the show, but I appreciated the writers lampshading that!

Is Valencia living there? I thought it was just Rebecca and Heather, with Valencia hanging out there?

I just caught up on the last four episodes. I had been wondering what would break up Rebecca and Valencia's friendship (which is really enjoyable to watch but which felt doomed - or at least destined for a blowup. I had been assuming for some reason that it would be caused by Valencia and Josh getting back together, but now that it's Rebecca and Josh, I think that's what will cause it.

One thing that I find really interesting. As others have noted with previous episodes, Rachel Bloom has talked about Rebecca's arc over the planned four seasons. Last season was about her being in denial about her feelings for Josh and her own personal problems. This season is about her being more honest with herself - but I think that's actually true for many of the characters, and it's really interesting. I'm so glad they got a third season because I'm really excited to see where the show and the characters go.

I think she only lives with Heather, but yeah, otherwise how's this "squad" thing gonna go now.

Ugh, new villain characters, whatshisname...hoping he doesn't become a love interest because even Rebecca can see that going back to the old lifestyle isn't good.

Patton Oswalt just freaked me the heck out at that end.

I wouldn't say that Rebecca and Valencia's friendship felt doomed so much as it felt fake through and through.

Was this Parron Oswalt's first role since his wife died? I could barely hear the scene over the crying in my head.

I wouldn't say that Rebecca and Valencia's friendship felt doomed so much as it felt fake through and through.

I don't think it's so much "fake" as much as it is built on a shoddy foundation. I feel like I had several of these types of "insta-friendships" in my teens and twenties: the two of you don't have much in common, and you don't really get each other on a fundamental level, but you have one big thing in common and you are in a similar place in life, so for a while you have a lot of fun together. Then things change, and you either drift apart (if you're both mature and emotionally stable) or things blow up (if one or both of you is not mature and/or emotionally stable). I think this is the kind of friendship Rebecca and Valencia have - too bad the thing they have in common is the guy that Rebecca is now back together with and, well ... they are definitely NOT both mature and stable.

I realize it's annoying to introduce a new character here like they did Plimpton.

But he nearly instantly pulled Rebecca's head out of her ass when it came to overlooking what a thickheaded lummox Josh is, so I'm going to go on record early as being a BIG FAN.

Also, Rebecca's combative interactions with him are a helluva lot more interesting than anything she has going on with Chan, so bring him on.

I dislike almost any plot that involves the law firm because, for some reason, plots that accentuate the shocking unrealism of the way work is treated on the show bother me more than plots that accentuate the shocking unrealism of they way anything else is treated. (No, musical interludes don't count, here.)

The work bits may actually be more unrealistic? It's unfortunate partly because a lot of the show's strength comes from the portrayal of Rebecca's (and others') psychology, and when that's embedded in fantasyland or contrived dilemmas the impact is lessened a lot.

Yeah, the work stuff is super-unrealistic and also internally inconsistent. There's always been the tension between "Rebecca is a super-smart workaholic who was going to be named partner in a NYC BigLaw firm at 28" (which is in itself unrealistic!) and "Rebecca goes to work when she feels like it and when she does go, she spends the time gossiping with her best friend." I do like that they kind of addressed that this week.

I think they've always kind of presented it Rebecca is so overqualified that she can be the best attorney in West Covina by a wide margin while still only putting in a half-assed effort.

I legit did not even know it was a law firm before this week. I wasn't entirely certain, but it just never clicked that Rebecca wasn't just the inhouse lawyer for whatever the hell Darryl was doing.

At 26, right? Since she was 16 at camp ten years ago. Most people would be … just graduating from law school at this point, or have at most a year of experience practicing? (Also, I'm pretty sure you don't randomly get being named partner sprung on you like that.)

It is my belief that shows like this would actually have more comedic potential if they bothered to get the professional setting at least, I don't know, 25% right.

I'm a week behind but I'll post it here anyway. I'm really hoping Scott isn't gone for good. I liked Scott and Paula and I'd like to see them work it out.

Yes, exactly! So very unrealistic.
