RuPaul's Drag Race: Oh. My. Gaga!
March 26, 2017 8:16 PM - Season 9, Episode 1 - Subscribe
Lady Gaga meets the new queens competing for the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar" and the 13 new queens compete in the Miss Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent pageant. And of course, there's a twist or two ....
From Towleroad: Get To Know the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 9 Queens in This Massive Must-Read Preview, and Tops and Bottoms: Ranking the Queens Of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 9 Premiere – RECAP ... but no thoughts on the mysterious 14th queen in either of those links.

I'm here for Sasha Velour already.
It's worth checking out the Untucked episode for a really moving section where Lady Gaga gives warm, intelligent, constructive feedback to each of the queens. Ten minutes of a masterclass on creative practises and also infused with love and respect.
I was particularly moved by Gaga telling a queen that "you are not just a man or a woman, you are an art piece .. well, I don't want to tell you what you are.."
Overall a really delightful selection of queens and it is difficult to tell who will go home early.

I'm excited for this season! Valentina in drag is gorgeous, but her affect out of drag is really annoying to me. Trinity Taylor looks distractingly like Jan from the Office. I love Nina Bo'nina and Eureka.
I wouldn't mind if Cynthia comes back. The girl who is coming looked black from the back, though. I can't wait to find out.

Was the "no eliminations" thing just for this episode or for the full season?

Just for this episode, I'm pretty certain.
I'm stoked about the season - there seems like a lot of talent and unlike S8 and AS2, there isn't a clear winner from episode 1. Sasha, Valentina, Nina, Eureka, Shea, and Peppermint are all early faves for me. People are already hating on Valentina, but I find her pretty endearing so far. Eureka is also getting a lot of hate online for "bullying" Jaymes Mansfield in Untucked, which I find totally ridic (wtf, mild shade isn't "bullying").
Anyway, my pick to win before the season started was Eureka, but after seeing the episode I think Nina is more likely to take it. She is crazy talented, funny, personable, and has a backstory that is made for a reality TV rags-to-riches story. Still, I think it's almost anyone's game at this point.
Also, people better run for cover if Aja is in the bottom two.

Nina strolling out in the peach face (peach head!) was what made me go "YES. I 👏🏼 am 👏🏼 here 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 this!"
I came out of the promos really into Aja, Alexis Michelle, and Sasha Velour, but after the episode I'm really curious to see more of Nina ("keep your friends close, and your friends storylines closer" –Trixie Mattel) and Shea Coulee. That hot dog!
The first episode of Untucked warmed me a bit to Farrah Moan, who I didn't like as much from the episode. Also I loved in Untucked when someone called out the three New York queens for making the most obvious choice ever and doing Lady Liberty.
And producers: I see you trying to make "east cost/west coast" happen, but hopefully the challenges and personalities of these queens will mean you don't need to stir up that silliness...

I straight up died at the hot dog. I will always pull for a Chicago Queen but to look good in a hot dog headdress is amazing.
I thought there maybe was a big difference in what the judges were seeing live and what the camera was picking up. To my eye Alexis's body in the black Gaga dress was all sorts of lumpy and not great and the judges were talking about how good she looked.
I have no time for either of the Vegas queens.

I am not instantly in love with any of the queens, but I do like Sasha Velour. I also like her extended scream upon entering the work room.
Gaga was a really good judge!

The "first impression rose", imo, goes to Valentina, who seems remarkably poised and level-headed for someone with her amount of experience.
