Sense8: Isolated Above, Connected Below

While Capheus enjoys a welcome surprise, Lito makes a splash at a high-profile event. Riley works to gain the trust of a Sensate she saw at the rave.

*The man from the rave visits Riley as she takes a train with Will. He calls himself 'the old man of Hoy', is suspicious that Riley played the rave a BPO trap, and takes a psi-blocker to disappear.
*Sun says goodbye to her teacher and dog, promises to return.
*Over a breakfast omelet, Lito tells Hernando and Dani that he's decided they're going to Sao Paolo.
*Nomi and Amanita return to their San Francisco home.
*Zakia flags down the Van Damn to talk to Capheus; tells him that the office jerks weren't making up the story about her loving a woman, but that she likes men too. They kiss, then go back to her apartment for the night.
*Kala visits Wolfgang, and finally has sensate sex with him. Rajah brings Kala/Wolfgang breakfast in bed the morning after (to Wolfgang's bemusement).
*Capheus tells Zakia about being approached by the DRP, and she encourages him to take the offer seriously. He arrives home to find his mother was out all night too, with Silas Kabaka. His mother reveals that Silas has HIV too.
*Riley is visited by Puck, the drug-designer, who, like Mr. Hoy, isn't convinced Riley isn't working for BPO.
*Kala visits Wolfgang as he plays soccer with Felix, and has regrets about their night together.
*Lito speaks to the pride parade crowd, and declares to the world, "I am a gay man!", then introduces Hernando, declares his love, and kisses him passionately. The cluster all join the celebration.
*Sun and Riley share a smoke and contemplate their next moves.
*Nomi and her sister try on their dresses for the wedding, and Amanita is alerted to the location of Angelica's cabin.
*Will finds himself in Whispers' bed/life, between psi-blocker doses, and senses that something big is happening soon.
*Lila visits Wolfgang as he showers. Will tells Wolfgang to ask where she gets her blockers, but someone from Lila's cluster tells her not to answer. Wolfgang visits Lila back; she kills Mr. Bohm and his guards.
*Riley gets another visit from the suspicious Mr. Hoy, and she reveals her actual location to convince him she's not working for BPO. He decides to trust her, and exits his soundproof box to show her his home in Scotland. He tells her about the 1952 conference which led to the creation of BPO, and that there is a network of sensates throughout the world called "The Archipelago"
*Nomi and Amanita search the woods for Angelica's cabin, eventually finding its ruins. Naomi sees that Raoul destroyed the cabin by setting it on fire with himself inside.

The logistics are getting pretty dicey -- how can the E-Death allow Nomi to resume her normal life? It didn't erase her entire digital existence, just the various criminal charges/records, no? Wouldn't BPO be able to swoop in and grab her without needing any legal pretense?

Naomi sees that Raoul destroyed the cabin by setting it on fire with himself inside.

More than that. He has a scar across his forehead in that flashback. If I have this right, Angelica was for some reason a collaborator with Whispers in developing the operation to lobotomize Sensates to turn them into controllable zombies. So it seems for some reason she forced him to immolate himself along with the cabin.

Shhh... stop asking me to apply real world logic. :)
I think you've got a point, though we'll have to see how it plays out. If all the criminal record stuff is gone, I would guess BPO at least can no longer rely on regular law enforcement agencies to track her down, because they no longer have reason to. But yeah, cops and feds may not have reason to stake out her old apartment anymore, but it would seem BPO itself could do so.
And going to her sister's wedding is clearly a terrible idea. Nothing good will come from that, though not for the reasons her asshole father would think.

Yeah - "He said you'd make my wedding all about you" and my thought was "well.... he's kinda got you there."

I am confused by this also. I mean, that FBI agent isn't going to forget that she exists. He'll be running around yelling at people about the hacker that he was chaing having hcked the system and deleted her own records.

Puck is so odious! Ugh. As an Australian I feel embarrassed.

how can the E-Death allow Nomi to resume her normal life?

Since the show's idea of her being 'on the run' included continuing to live with her girlfriend and hanging out with friends and family in public places at Christmas, I doubt that it will ever come up again.

Mushy peas in Scotland? Deep fried mars bars in the highlands? Why is Sylvester McCoy putting on a terrible fake Scottish accent when he has a perfectly good real one?

The eye contact-sense8-connection doesn't make any sense. So Riley had a relatively small concert and connects with someone but Lito is the Grand Marshal of a parade and sees no one? Why have they not been connecting with anyone else since they were birthed?

Puck, just uugguuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhhh sensate STD indeed.

I really, really want to know how not-in-person sensate sex works. Was Kaja really having sex with her husband IRL while banging Wolfie in her mind or what?

"Yeah - "He said you'd make my wedding all about you" and my thought was "well.... he's kinda got you there."

Yeah, there's nothing quite like, "I have to run off right NOW to look at some old abandoned cabin" to make that remark sound kinda dead on. I don't think Nomi wants to make it all about her, but drama does follow her around. (Incidentally, that actress playing her sister looked dead on like her--was that a real relative?)

E-death makes no sense, I'm pretty sure the FBI agent is going to remember that Nomi's a criminal and chase her anyway.

They weren't looking? That's my best guess. Riley was basically throwing out a line and hoping fish would bite that one time, Lilo was uh....distracted by the sexy.

As of the end of this episode, I was not sure how the E-death thing will play out, but I expected BPO to basically have their hands full with Will and Riley and Whispers to devote more resources to a hacker they think is already pursued by their FBI associates.

Yeah I also thought her going to the wedding was a bad idea... but this show loves to be optimistic.

The eye contact-sense8-connection doesn't make any sense.

I think you have to be like.... really looking? Casual glances maybe doesn't work. And maybe most sensates in the know kind of avoid looking at anyone in the eyes.

re: eye contact

The premise behind senseates is ultra-empathy, and drugs that block the actions of MDMA/ molly/ ecstasy blocks senseations - direct eye contact triggers similar biochemical pathways (grossly) and something like eye contact (or touch!) is a plausible mechanism to reach a threshold of activation (much like in triggering action potentials for a[n excitatory] neuron to "fire") for the ultra-empathy to trigger.

re: touch!

Music (especially performance, from multiple stimuli and meta-stimuli) can do very similar things, which maybe is a missed opportunity for Riley to (inadvertently?) go out-of-control senseational.

re: E-death

Realistically, I am expecting the relief to be completely unfounded. Law enforcement officers require judges to issue warrants and an active warrant is required to legally detain someone unless they're doing something actively breaking the law. It'd be messy, but law-abiding LEO really can't do much especially when they know that the case will be thrown out and it goes against their KPIs/ stats/ numbers.

I'm also assuming that E-d should give her a new complete set of records/ credentials (if even without physical documents - birth cert, blood type, childhood fingerprints*, medical/ vaccination records, fake enrollment in grade school, tax records, etc.). Otherwise, she's vulnerable to being "undocumented" and all the abuses that authorities could inflict upon her without oversight.

Anyone else who doesn't depend on the law/ judges to actually prosecute? It's a complete non-issue and as fair as game as before.

Nomi's cool sister/ maid of honour thing is either an empty feel-good, or leading to absolute disaster. I hope I'm wrong.
