When today's acts were announced at the end of the first Semi, I realized what this year's trend-popularized-by-the-previous-winner is: singers with one name. Kinda boring! I was sort of hoping for more panini presses.

@jenfullmoon Thank you! I looked up the link for Semi 2 yesterday on SVT when I drafted the post, but I think I forgot to update it.
Spouse is home today, so he's gonna watch Semi 2 with me. Since he's nice, I have a plate of charcuterie in front of me, to ensure I eat something while I watch. There's Italian proscuitto, Irish blue cheese, German sourdough, and some kind of English goat cheese.
Along with European grazing board, there are also Iberian Ham flavored potato chips. These going to be delicious or the worst thing ever. I can't wait to try them.
Semi 1 had all my favorite entries so we'll see how Semi 2 goes. It's another fairly strong entry with a lot of entries that could qualify with a good performance. Let's do this.

Sweden was allowed to vote in semi final one, but we are not allowed to vote tonight and I for one am indignant.

About 20 minutes, give or take, for the semis, about as long as polls were open for, roughly.

Can we have a Käärijä cameo every year now instead of a Måns one?

I made the spouse who is a Eurovision ignoramus watch Windows95man and Käärijä back to back and he asked whether Finland had just decided to send performance artists from now on.

I'm behind on viewing because I got phone calls and had to pause the stream.
Estonia looks like they are having fun with um...fake instruments? (I've heard any onstage are fake at Eurovision?)
Italy has beautiful backgrounds.
Europapa is the sort of thing I want here. "Sorry, I lost the visuals here."

"We Just Love Eurovision Too Much" was so good I was surprised it wasn't kept for the finals show. The last time Sweden and Petra hosted we got the immortal "Love, Love, Peace, Peace" so I'm dying to see what they do tomorrow!

Uh-oh: Joost Klein, the representative for the Netherlands, will not perform in the Jury show tonight. Instead, his Semi-Final 2 performance will be shown. Swedish media later reported that Joost had been involved with an "incident" with a photographer."
According to Swedish broadcaster SVT, Klein physically assaulted a photographer or cameraperson, while Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported the person involved is a woman who works with the television production crew. It took several hours before AVROTROS announced that Klein was not going to be involved in the Jury Show.

So, a tornado touched down in my neighborhood on Friday morning and I've been without power for 36 hours. (I am fine! Totally OK! There's just ...power lines wrapped in trees.)
I plan to head out for wifi and hot food in a couple hours and plan to post the live thread then. Which is maybe good since SO MANY THINGS ARE HAPPENING.
I've been refreshing the Dutch news obsessively and the Dutch broadcaster is about to hold a press conference in the next few minutes.

The placement of "Europapa" as the closing song is perfect - high energy shoutout to a borderless Europe, then closing on a melancholy note. The song was designed for Eurovision, no?
I hope Marina Satti has recovered enough to be able to perform tonight - such a shame she got ill before her semifinal.
