So, does the effect on Nico's eyes look a lot like the one in the Dr. Strange movie? The movie with a Tina Minoru cameo?

I'm actually starting episode 1 now. I can't binge it like usual so does anyone mind if I make individual episode posts?

I don't mind. I just figured that if nobody had posted by now, we'd be doing a full season.

there's suddenly a lot of things to watch, like new seasons of Travelers, Voltron, etc, and the holiday stuff, so it's been a busy time

I would also appreciate individual episode posts.

I've got no problem with individual ep posts, but as a person who just binged the whole thing over the last few days, I got thoughts about it, and since this is a full-season post. . . .

IOW, those of you just starting out might want to remove this thread from "recent activity" for a while.

Yeah, Nico's enraged/possessed makeup is very reminiscent of the Mads Mikkelsen evil wizards from Dr. Strange. I'm not sure if it's actually supposed to be related or if it's just an easy visual effect to do, though.

General thoughts on the season - Alex still seems like the most sane of the Runaways, Chase wobbles between dumb as a brick and skilled mechanic/engineer in a way I find odd, and the alien who unilaterally decides she's marrying Karolina is possibly the weirdest touch of all. That felt like pure plot device to give them a chance of countering the Gibborim, except then that alien barely accomplished anything. I did like that Nico and Karolina stayed together; I was cynically expecting the show to break them up and was pleased to be proven wrong on that front.

Xavin (the shapeshifting alien) is a major plot from the comics. We haven't voted on book spoilers so I'll try to vague things up. I guess I can note that they were originally Skrull (the villains from the upcoming Captain Marvel film) but it looks like they're filing off the serial numbers, the same way Molly isn't a mutant. What struck me is that comics-Xavin is, as a shapeshifter, is pretty genderfluid, but the show is almost always presenting them as female. Given their comfort with Nico's bisexuality, it's a little odd that the show is balking there.

I agree about Chase. They keep giving him dialog that he's tinkered with something, but we never actually see him tinkering. If we're going to believe him as mad scientist jr. then he should have a room full of scrap the way Alex has the computer nook.

Yeah, Chase's characterization has been all over the place this season - he made the fistigons! but he's dumb as a post! ech.

I'm still working my way through, so I'm sure some of it will be resolved in the last 3 episodes, but some of the second half of the season sorta felt like it went sideways with the absence of the prior season-and-a-half's Big Bad. "Shit, we got airtime to fill, uhh. Here, let's do this! and this! and something else! and the other things!"

And I'm not gonna go back and look but I swear Karolina gained a foot on Nico this season.

Still, it's probably the highlight of the current extended Marvel Cinematic/TV Universe for me.
