I like the unannounced and transient quality of their guests. I don't care for talk shows, and I won't usually tune in for promotional interviews, even with smart people that I like; I just get bored listening to a host pal around and namedrop with them. But the brothers aren't there for that. They just talk to their guest about what's going on with this question, and it works for me.

I work in veterinary medicine, and I can't tell you the number of times I've seen a t-shirt or bumper sticker or whatever that says "Real doctors treat more than one species".
