Reservation Dogs: Stay Gold Cheesy Boy
September 15, 2022 7:00 PM - Season 2, Episode 7 - Subscribe
Cheese gets stuck in a group home after Uncle Brownie gets busted for some crops. Big finds Bigfoot but that wasn't the most interesting thing that happened to him that afternoon.
Are these not two separate episodes?
One that was all Cheese, and one that's all Big?
I'll just talk about the Cheese part. I totally agree that he's not just a man, but a wise one. He navigated that scary new environment with total class and empathy. He's just the best.

Yeah, these are two different episodes: Stay Gold Cheesy Boy is about Cheese going to the group home, and The Plot Thickens is Big’s misadventure.
Also, Cheese’s uncle who gets caught with the plants is not Uncle Brownie.

My favorite member of the Dogs changes from episode to episode but it is fairly consistently a neck and neck race between Cheese and Willie Jack. Cheese’s handling of the situation he was in and his explanation for why he approaches things the way he does were big-heart moments and I want only good things for him.
So the two little people who were hanging out with the DJ and putting it to Gene’s wife were probably Mose and Mekko, right?
My wife commented that keeping a job is probably going to require learning how to piss in a toilet but I have been to Red Lobster before and I am not convinced this is true.

Just for clarification he is Uncle Charley.

I was totally not expecting this episode to be as happy as it turned out to be. I mean, I was pretty sure Cheese was going to get sprung by the end, but I was so pleasantly surprised by all the positive change he was able to make happen along the way. I felt like life was going to continue to be a bit better for the kids in the home even after Cheese left.

Yep, I was waiting for something really grim to happen.

When the episode spent such a long time on Cheese trying to call his grandma, I was expecting an emotional conversation. And then we got a self-possessed Cheese just reassuring his IHS grandma that he's okay without telling her where he is and worrying her. And, Lane Factor somehow plays that and still conveys that Cheese is barely holding onto his tears.
And I loved how Cheese said a specific "hi" to Jackie. He's such a good kid.

Same.

Another good one. Marc Maron is Marc Maroning, Cheese continues to prove he's the glue and young native dad learns some pronouns.
Knocking it out of the park this season.

Oh damn, I wanted another Cheese episode, but not one this stressful! I loved the "grandma" callback, though. And the callback to the ridealong. And I really loved the explanation for why he is the way he is. Cheese is such a good kid.

Beautifully written and timed.
Man, Cheese is a "man"/ adult compared to Tito who has fathered kids, is still himself a child.
Marc Maron plays to type, but very effective.
A bunch of those visual effects, are very good and reproduces some of the typical alterations to the visual cortex. Especially the pareidolia getting more intense until they morph into something else. Colour changes if everything in view is mostly static after staring for a bit. A bunch more.
I very much like how the junkyard guy reached out and earned Big's respect, even though has always been cool, despite using cringey language.
Even Dear Lady says so.
