YASSS. More Elias, please. I also like the mini-Machine v. mini-Samaritan cage match (literally).

The religious debate between Harold and Root on whether to help the Machine in the fight was interesting. It was like watching parents argue over what to do for their troubled child.

Yes, Elias was.. unexpected. I can usual see that sort of thing a mile away. Good on them for making it happen and leaving enough ambiguity that it was possible without making me their something at the TV.

I remember studying Elias after he was shot and trying to determine if he was really dead. I decided he was. Glad to be wrong though. I'm curious to see if he plays a role in the eventual showdown with Samaritan.

As for the virtual showdown now underway, I'm guessing Samaritan wins quadrillions of times and the Machine once ...

I might be the last one to hear about this, but the "Shotseeker" system that seemed like clever sci-fi to me Actually exists as "Shotspotter" and was previously mentioned by its (real) name by Shaw in last season's episode "The Cold War".

I don't know anything about the real system, but the idea that it was nearly useless because of false positives until they found one person that could listen to the audio and verify things really rings true.

Nice to see Elias again! And Bruce, who was only in one episode last season. I thought they were going to "read him in" about the machines, so the Elias reveal was a complete surprise.

but... well... probably not much chance of an Elias/Root spin-off.
