Killjoys: Johnny Be Good
August 27, 2016 9:05 PM - Season 2, Episode 9 - Subscribe
Pawter makes a decision. Johnny and Dutch speak of baked goods. D'Avin goes shopping with a new friend.
Welp, I guess I was wrong about Pawter not dying :-(

Well technically we didn't see fully dead Pawter, just dying and bleeding out and mostly dead Pawter. Maybe I've just watched too many sci-fi shows and read too many comics, but are we sure she's dead? Maybe her body was carted away to be injected with green goo so she can be turned into a Six.

I wonder what inheritance laws are like in the quad. I mean, obviously the rank wouldn't go to Johnny, but he actually married her, there might be rights/property as a husband involved.

That's my hope, as well. It does seem like we're headed for cliffhangersville, though, so I don't expect we'll find out about Pawter's ultimate fate this season either way. But I'm hoping the possibility of Johnny's girlfriend (wife? fiance?) needing to be cured with D'Avin's magic penis is an opportunity for Relationship Drama that will be too irresistible for the writers to pass up.
On the other hand if they were planning on bringing her back as a Six I can't imagine Kendry would've made such a big deal of making a martyr out of her. So I dunno.

You're right about Kendry. That's the biggest flaw I can see in the plan to bring her back. The out is that somebody (Khlyen perhaps) spirited away the body.
As an aside, I have to say I hate the spelling on this show. Every time I go to post, I have to look up how to spell the characters' name. And until I started doing that I had no idea what Alvis' actual name was. I mean I knew it wasn't likely to be Elvis, but as to what it was, who knew? And Khlyen's? Give me a break.

Yeah, Khylen is a fairly silly spelling and D'Avin is an egregious abuse of the Punctuation Shaker trope. The extra weird part about it is how inconsistent it is, I mean you've got D'Avin...and Johnny. And they're brothers, and presumably their parents didn't think either one was getting a weird name. Maybe D'Avin was named after a character on a popular holovid fantasy drama or something, I dunno. Alvis and Pree's names, at least, are spelled exactly like they sound.
I do love the name "Fancy Lee" though.

Talking about names, how did Dutch come by her nickname ? Is Dutch a nickname in america or the UK ?

I'd have to say a nickname like Dutch would have been more common decades ago--say up until the 1960s or early 1970s. After that, most of those kinds of nicknames fell out of use. As to why Dutch earned her nickname on this show, that hasn't been revealed yet (as far as I know).

As someone commented last episode, I was looking forward to watching Pawter navigate the halls of politics, but that's off the table, which will mean that if the Nine and/or the Company are going to be brought down, it's going to be through the use of force. That can be fun, but I do prefer to have some Machiavellian maneuvering going on behind the scenes as well for balance.
Sadly, it appears we're in for another cliff hanger, as I can't imagine them wrapping up this whole thing in one episode.
