High Maintenance: Meth(od)
September 16, 2016 9:45 PM - Season 7, Episode 1 - Subscribe
In two parts: 1) The Guy makes an uncomfortable delivery to a macho client and his friend. 2) Max and Lainey's co-dependent relationship begins to wane after Max spends time with a new group of friends.
Featuring a continuance of the characters from Season 2 Ep 1 "Olivia"

Also, the near-redemption of Max. A storyline that I felt was uplifting in an odd way until it wasn't in an expected way.

Does anyone have any interest in starting from S1E01?

I was referring to the Wikipedia list of episodes while I was watching yesterday.

What throw pillow? I missed it.

In the episode in which we first meet Max and Lainey, we first see Lainey doing a review/critique of some fashion clothes with the designer, and she's going on and on about how this one coat reminds her of this throw pillow that someone has that gives her memories that disgust her. I'd have to rewatch the episode to remember exactly what her complaint was.
At the end of this episode that green furry throw pillow behind Max's percocet-filled head is made of the exact same fabric that the coat was made out of.

New big fan of the show, here. Had never heard of it before when the web series was happening. I was only alerted to its existence because of the cameo in this episode from a certain Mr. Colby Keller, who's a gay porn star. (An interview with Keller about his appearance on the show. Site is SFW, but the site often has ads with scantily-clad guys.)
I binged through the web episodes before watching this one and was instantly in love with it.

I haven't watched the web series, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. Except that Max's story was depressing as hell.

Man! I found myself surprisingly invested in the second plot, and therefore surprisingly distressed by its dark ending. This stuff is great in the way that good short fiction is great. I'm on board.

This show is so great. Only thing I don't understand is how is this season 7?

I came to High Maintenance in kind of an odd way - I was looking at the City Arts and Lectures upcoming programs list and noticed a listing for An evening with the creators of High Maintenance on February 18, 2017. I wondered what the show was, looked it up, remembered hearing about the Vimeo version but hadn't watched it, but now that it's on HBO, I can watch this version. And I've been enjoying its loopy narratives. (For those of you not in SF, eventually you should be able to hear the talk on public radio - keep checking.)
