The Flash: Magenta
October 24, 2016 6:22 PM - Season 3, Episode 3 - Subscribe
Harrison Wells and Jesse Quick return to Earth-1 S.T.A.R. Labs. Jesse has become a speedster and Harry an overprotective father. Alchemy has invaded the dreams of abused foster child Frankie Kane, who takes on a new, magnetic, personality known as Magenta and sends her foster father to the hospital.
Julian suspects Frankie is a metahuman and provokes her into becoming Magenta at the police station. But for Barry, Julian's plan would have fallen flat.
Meanwhile, at S.T.A.R. Labs, Jessie is running through tests but Harry's ulterior motive is to get somebody, anybody, to talk her out of becoming superhero. Caitlyn tells him off, much to his and Cisco's surprise. Wally is jealous of his crush's speed and does something incredibly stupid to get that speed. But for Barry, Wally would have been the crushed.
Magenta returns and tries to kill her foster father by dropping a large ship on the hospital. Barry can't stop both the ship from falling on the hospital and talking down Magenta so Harry finally relents and let's Jesse be the superhero she wants to be.
Returning to S.T.A.R. Labs the gang has found a new home far away from Alchemy's influence for the Magenta-free Frankie. Sad Wally has his second very terrible idea of the episode when he hears how Alchemy invading Frankie's dreams triggered her inner metahuman.
Also in this episode, Barry and Iris have a disastrous first date. They agree to a do-over at a far off seaside location. That date ends before it starts when Barry rushes back to battle Magenta in Central City, inexplicably leaving Iris behind.
A.V. Club recap - Harrison Wells returns as The Flash gets back on track.

Yes! Could Barry not at least run to the airport and get her a flight back from wherever-that-was? (Coast City?)

The dialogue with Magenta's foster father was clearly generated by the Lazy-Ass Roboscreenwriter 3000's new Clichéd Abusive Dad setting.

This entire episode is just riddled with terrible writing.

"Gee, Barry," Leonard Snart sneers as Iris storms in while he and Flash are fighting, "That's pretty cold even for me!"
