TITUS IS A DREAM. Give Tituss Burgess an Emmy! The "Hold Up" parody is so amazing.

Neither my girlfriend nor I have seen any of the videos Titus is parodying, so we were lost on this one. We love this show, but when we miss the reference, it kinda sucks the fun out of it for the duration of the bit.

My IRL name is Michael, which means that my girlfriend has been giving me "Hello, I ain't playing with you, Michael"s pretty much non-stop since the trailer for this season came out.

The music jokes have always been one of of this show's strongest elements.

The whole thing was hilarious, but the bit that made me laugh out loud was Biz Marky.

You're welcome.

We've been having more difficulty wanting to watch Kimmy Schmidt this year, partially because of last season's insistence on making every other episode feel super axe-grindy, but mostly because the Social Commentary bits they've decided to do are like some sort of Whoops Too Soon best hits collection that feels like it was shot back when we expected the country to not drive itself into a ditch on Election Day, and every joke in those storylines lands with all the grace of someone doing three quarters of a backflip.

Titus is fun, though! Give him his own show, please.

I thought the Titus + Mikey storyline was going down some well-worn "sitcom misunderstanding" path, and was genuinely surprised by its sweet and honest resolution.

I agree! Very real. Still hoping they'll get back together.

Just FYI, anyone who wants to open further threads in the season can do so! I will add as I watch, but I imagine my watch schedule will be drawn out and inconsistent.

Yeah, I felt like I was wincing and making a grim face a lot in the first three-four episodes and I'm not super keen on continuing, at least not right now. Guess I'm still not over it! I kept thinking with a grim sort of vague hysteria. This is not funny!!! Too soon!!! It's not that I've lost my sense of humor or anything, I caught up on Brooklyn 9-9 before starting Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and plenty of laughs were had! But a bunch of the jokes in these first three or four episodes just have not been landing for me.

I haven't been able to get past episode...five, I think.

I did like this show a great deal once (and Titus remains a delight), but now that I've experienced Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt seems somehow lazy in comparison, and too proud of its own perceived cleverness.

too proud of its own perceived cleverness

I feel like that's a Tina Fey hallmark

If this show just became the Titus and Mikey show, I'd love it. Their storyline was by far the best part of last season and still my favorite part of this one. Plus, The Unbreakable Titus Andromedon is one hell of a show name. I really like Kimmy, Lillian and Jacqueline! And the actors are fantastic! It's just that the writing let everyone but Titus and Mikey down last season. I hope they turn that around.

Also, Daveed Diggs! Daveed Diggs needs to be in more things, he's great on TV.
