Faking It: All episodes  Season 0, Ep 0

Faking It was an early British reality TV show. Its challenge was based on Shaw's Pygmalion: experts get a month to train a member of the public to the point where a panel of their peers would be unable to pick them from a group as an imposter. Often there might be a loose connection between the existing and new occupation of the candidate: "Sheep sheerer to hairdresser" or "Show girl to show jumper", for example. The trainee would live with the experts for the month and would usually undergo a makeover as well as training by actors. After their test - they would return home - either reluctantly or gratefully. Movie: Mr. SOUL!

From 1968 to 1973, the first all-Black public-television variety show SOUL!, guided by sharp gay producer and host Ellis Haizlip, offered an uncompromising celebration of Black literature, poetry, music, and politics. This documentary about Haizlip and his show includes clips of live performances from The Last Poets, Al Green, Earth Wind and Fire, literary figures like Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin, politics, dance and more. The series was among the first to provide expanded images of African Americans on television, shifting the gaze from inner-city poverty and violence to the vibrancy of the Black Arts Movement. Bilal Baig and and Fab Filippo's comedy about Sabi, a nonbinary millennial in Toronto, their friends and their Pakistani immigrant family, deepens the characters as it brings Sabi's father back home from Dubai. Hilarious, heartfelt, sex-positive and very queer, with excellent writing and acting and great music. 8 short 20-minute episodes. (Season 1 post, Season 2 trailer.) On HBO.
