Mystery Science Theater 3000: TORMENTED
January 28, 2016 12:37 AM - Season 4, Episode 14 - Subscribe

"A Ghost-Woman Owned Him Body and Soul!" "Her lips, cold as a tomb! Her caress, a naked chill!" Tom's former lover Vi threatens to reveal herself to his bride-to-be, so he lets her fall to her death, but that is only the beginning of her now-ghostly campaign against him. Another outing from the most prolific director of MST movies, Bert I. "Mr BIG" Gordon. It's a good episode, and it's not really that bad of a movie! Thanks again, Bert. YouTube (1h32m) Premiered September 26, 1992. Without riffing at the Internet Archive (1h16m)

The Robot's Voice, which I believe is an adjunct site to Topless Robot, says this is one of the ten most-watchable MST movies.

Every week we in the MST3K Club watch the episode in the post. This is our 63rd episode, out of 64 so far (we've had to skip one).

This week's episode will be shown in our cytube room, at https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub, Thursday (today) at 9 PM US Eastern Time. Details are in the Club FAQ, although note that the address given in the post is incorrect.

I have a rehearsal tonight, but I should be able to join you before the movie is over.

I had a weird day last Thursday and was totally discombobulated as the evening approached and didn't notice it was MST3K time until after it was all over. But I'll be there tonight, ready for TORMENT...

Related: some rogue archivists are 'republishing' Suck.com articles from exactly 20 years ago to an email list, and the one for Jan. 23rd covered the then-impending "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie" and the announcement that Comedy Central was cancelling the series (SciFi Channel had not yet rescued it). It's interesting to see 'time capsules' like that showing what was happening exactly X years ago, as I'm reminded that today is the 30th anniversary of the "Challenger Shuttle Disaster", a much more real space-based tragedy. Sigh.

My husband and I used to torture each other (or rather, torment each other, har har har) by suddenly breaking out into the "Tormented" song, which of course goes:

Tormented tormented
Tormented tormented
tormented tormented
TOR. men TED!

to the tune of "Chopsticks." I'm kinda crushed I'll miss this one because I'm otherwise engaged on Thursdays.

I'm having dinner with Donald Trump, but he usually leaves early and sticks me with the check, so I'll probably drop by.

Did I say Donald Trump? Ha! Ho, ho, ha! Boy is my face red! I meant Megyn Kelly.

In a perfect world, Joel and/or Mike and the Bots would have riffed during all the Presidential Debates.

...and TV's Frank would be SOMEBODY's running mate.

I would vote for TV's Frank.

Sorry I missed it. Rehearsal went later than I had been led to believe it would. I'll be around next week.
