Abbie and Crane take a boat trip to the Catacombs; Jenny, Joe, Sophie, Danny, and Pandora do some mountaineering.

Have they really killed Joe and resurrected Betsy Ross in the same episode? Unbelievable. The last few episodes the show really seemed to be getting its groove back, but I guess it was just a fluke, and now they're doubling down on having learned nothing from their mistakes with Katrina (unless they kill Betsy for good in the finale).

But Jenny/Joe has been one of the few things the show did well, I hope they find an excuse to reanimate him in the finale.

Somehow, I'm not even mad. This should kill any fan effort to keep it going, and the way things have been going, it's really not worth bringing it for a fourth season. The plot at this point would probably be Crane shacking up with Betsy Ross like in S02 and some sort of secret government that is fully aware of Abbie's off-duty activities, as well as Crane/Ross true identities.

I'd only approve of a third season if Orlando Jones is back and there's at least 10 minutes of Headless with incrementally more powerful guns on each subsequent episode. Headless riding a stolen tank would be far more S01 than anything since.

Their relationship was the only thing they got consistently right this season.

I will be astonished if they get a 4th season ordered, but I'm just so annoyed that Betsy is going to be eating up screen time of the finale now instead of safely relegated to flashback-land.

Bringing Betsy back does at least make there be some payoff for all those interminable flashbacks. And it sets up another person who can have amusing "adjusting to life in the 21st century" scenes, since Crane seems all-too comfortable in modernity these days. But in the long run I don't see her being handled better than Katrina. I also feel like, after all the effort they put in introducing Agent Foster and making her part of the team, and now making Reynolds part of the team, I just can't see them finding enough stuff to do to keep all these people busy. At that point you're past having an A plot and a B plot for each episode and into having C and D plots too and...it'll be (even more) messy.

And yeah, for all the past two seasons' wandering mishaps, Joe Corbyn was one of the few things they got right, so killing him off is foolish. I guess it's a blow for racial and gender equality to have the white dude get fridged at least?

I do like Pappa Mills, though I'm a little disappointed that he's apparently been in on this stuff all along; for a brief window of time there I thought maybe he was just a guy who's seen and been through enough crazy shit that he just rolls with whatever happens around him. Dude turns into a wendigo right in front of you? "You're having a bad day, son." Instead it looks like he's going to replace Joe as the connection to the Secret History of August Corbyn.

I'd only approve of a third season if Orlando Jones is back

Much as I'd love to see him come back too, it doesn't seem likely - Orlando Jones shares MeFi's opinion that Sleepy Hollow went into a sharp decline and he hasn't been shy about publicly voicing that opinion. I think those bridges are probably pretty well burned at this point. I'd love to see him back on the show but I also can't blame him for not really wanting back on.

Oh, I'm not expecting him to come back, and going the fuck away from this shitfest was the best decision he either had or someone had for him, much as I don't expect to see Headless back. But going back to S01 basics would be the only thing that would make me want a new season. I'd even be willing to accept Betsy Ross as a new fish out timewater, and the numerous "Betsy Ross? Like the flag woman?" "hahahaha nervous laugh exactly" jokes that would follow.

I thought maybe he was just a guy who's seen and been through enough crazy shit that he just rolls with whatever happens around him
I expected that he'd be aware of the crazy shit, not that he turned out to Black Helsing, Monster Hunter (coming to your local theatre August 1973).
