Mystery Science Theater 3000: TEEN-AGE CRIME WAVE
September 22, 2016 2:03 PM - Season 5, Episode 22 - Subscribe

"Out of the sidewalk jungle... the shocking drama of today's teenage terror!" Back then there were fewer people, so you only needed two teens to make a crime wave. These particular ones terrorize a farming family. They all go out for a fun day trip to the Griffith Park Observatory. I don't remember this one really well, but the word on the web is that it's kind of an underrated classic, possibly ignored because it only came out on DVD fairly recently. I also hear it's slow going for the first part. Contains the Mace Mousse and "Doughy Guy" sketches, and Frank dressed as Doughy Man at the end. YouTube (1h32m) Premiered January 15, 1994.

Sorry this one's late guys! I'm still recovering from Atlanta and San Francisco, but we ARE having a show tonight! As usual, it's at https://cytu.be/r/Metafilter_MST3KClub, at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT. See you there!

BTW, the conference/celebration thing I went to was in the same building as the Slack offices. That's right, I went to the building mathowie works at!

Doesn't mathowie do his Slack-ing from home or from a branch office near his home in Portlandish? If he were actually in the Slack Home Office without you getting a selfie with him, I would stop speaking to you until the end of Season 5.

Anyway, I'll be there AND be square, with my non-snackbar-standard munchies (I got fresh strawberries, supermarket sushi, stuffed jalapenos and frozen fried butterfly shrimp, just because I remember most of my teenage years were spent eating: TEENAGE WEIGHT GAIN!)

This one has become one of my favorites, because I somehow completely missed seeing it back in the day, and later it wasn't in my collector friend's collection, so I only saw it for the first time in the last couple of years. It was brand new to me, and it also FINALLY revealed the source of the quote "You're dirt, Terry, he'd never touch you!" which they've called back to at least once in another episode.

Since this one's set on Thanksgiving, I especially like to watch it on Thanksgiving now.

Watch Mike's face during the Doughy Guy song. He is SO into it.
